Two games in one great rom...and is it ever! Sonic 3 & Knuckles is heralded by many as the best of the entire series. It was long, at a whopping fourteen zones. It was flexible, with three playable characters, enhanced head-to-head racing that debuted in Sonic 2, and coop play. It had fantastic replay value, allowing all three characters to achieve a "Super" form upon collecting a set number of Chaos/Super Emeralds. While this was not a new thing and had been possible ever since the second of the series, what was fantastic was the way in which we did so: that's right, "Get Blue Spheres" was first played in Sonic 3. Sonic 3 also brought something that had been missing in the rest of the series up to that point: a story. Sonic and Tails have landed on Angel Island where they are ambushed by a stranger, Knuckles...and the Chaos Emeralds stolen! Why the harsh welcome? Where is Robotnik? There's more to this plot than meets the eye, and two separate viewpoints from which it can be told! So much can be said about S3&K, but why read a book when you can play the game? What are you waiting for?
